U.S.S. Charles R. Ware

In June 2002, with funds raised by former officers and crewmen of the ship, a permanent monument to Lt. Ware and Airman Stambaugh was dedicated in Veterans Memorial Park in Athens, Tennessee. The McMinn County Living Heritage Museum in Athens has become the permanent repository of Ware memorabilia and is home to an impressive collection of artifacts and mementos that belonged to the men who proudly served on the USS Ware.

Sunday, July 22, 2007. I spoke to Deidre Senior as she had completed a Living Heritage project in 2001 with her students about the Blue Penguin colony. Deidre made some really interesting comments about Living Heritage. 183; The project offered a way to hand the direction of the learning over to the students and letting them run with it. 183; Students took ownership of the project.
